Get in touchThis season, the goal The State of Craft is to find solutions to the barriers to success that mire the legal cannabis industry. Our white paper, The Dire State of Craft Cannabis in Canada, discusses these issues in detail. Our episodes this season are organized based on the sections of the white paper.
Our second episode of the season (episode 43 overall) featured an incredible discussion on the role the cannabis stigma plays in the Canadian healthcare system.
We learned so much from our discussions with Kala Sanmartin of The Cannabis Nurses + Co and Kirk Nyquist of the Reefer MEDness podcast. Some of the things that we discussed include:
- Kala's health journey: from thinking cannabis was horrible while suffering through insane health challenges, to finally healing through cannabis and completely transforming her views.
- How nurses are mistreated in the various provincial healthcare systems that exist in Canada.
- The double standards that cannabis and pharmaceutical drugs are subjected to, and how cannabis stigma results in many patient deaths (since lethal drugs are used for painkillers instead of cannabis).
- How stigma shows up within the healthcare system on a daily basis.
- The dynamics between government and big pharma, and how this impacts the cannabis industry.
- The difference between doctors and nurses, and how this impacts both patient care and the cannabis industry.
- So much more!!
We hope you check out the recording of this episode! If you want to participate in the next live broadcast of The State of Craft, you can register for episode 44 discussing whether or not compassion clubs should become legal in Canada, which features some true legends of Canadian cannabis history.
