[Get in touch](https://certicraft.com/contact-us) Share - - - For season 4 of [The State of Craft](https://certicraft.com/learn/tag/state-of-craft-podcast), our aim is to discuss and determine strategies to address the myriad of systemic barriers that exist within the legal cannabis industry. Each episode is based on a different section of our white paper, *[The Dire State of Craft Cannabis in Canada](https://certicraft.com/learn/cannabis-policy/the-dire-state-of-craft-cannabis-in-canada-white-paper)*. We encourage you to read this paper before joining us for the live stream! Our 3rd episode of the season features some true legends of Canadian cannabis. Two of our guests have shaped cannabis history for decades; without the work of **[Hilary Black](https://www.linkedin.com/in/hilary-black-exec/) **of the BC Compassion Club Society and **[Ted Smith](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ted-smith-3b6b1a87/) **of the [Victoria Cannabis Buyers Club](https://www.victoriacannabisbuyers.club/), cannabis would arguably still be illegal today. Our conversation is rounded out with pharmacist **[Trevor Shewfelt](https://www.linkedin.com/in/trevor-shewfelt-ab9a501a/) **(of [Reefer MEDness podcast](https://reefermed.ca/) fame)—a critical perspective for any conversation considering how to license compassion clubs. ![whitepages_health](https://certicraft.com/hs-fs/hubfs/whitepages_health.png?width=1964&height=472&name=whitepages_health.png) The experiences that our guests have lived through and the perspectives that they hold are an incredible resource for a deep discussion on the role that compassion clubs might play in legal Canadian cannabis. Together, we'll better understand the nuances critical for any kind of policies that would support medical patients that have largely been forgotten about through the legalization of Canadian cannabis. We feel privileged to be able to host this conversation! For the starting point of our discussion, please read the "Medical Patients Have Been Forgotten" chapter of [our white paper](https://certicraft.com/learn/cannabis-policy/the-dire-state-of-craft-cannabis-in-canada-white-paper). This LIVE event takes place Thursday, May 8th at 10:30 AM PT/1:30 PM ET.
