Most growers would agree that getting licensed with Health Canada has been a challenge and needs some tweaks, to put it mildly. Well, we have good news for micro and standard processors - you no longer need to apply for a sales amendment for cannabis flower and pre-rolls!
Instead, the sales license will be part of the initial licensing process, eliminating the additional application. This change is starting on April 19th.
For those who are already licensed but didn’t get the sales amendment - you haven’t been forgotten. Your existing license will be re-issued with a new sales amendment within the next 90 days, and for those who already applied for the sales license, your application will be prioritized.
Health Canada has been looking for ways to streamline the licensing process, and this change should help speed things up for many processors. You’ll still need to submit a Notification of New Cannabis Product (NNCP) and wait the usual 60 days, but not needing to apply for a sales amendment should cut off a few months of wait time.
Hopefully, this will mean processors are getting their product to customers much faster in the near future.
